Art During COVID19 Closure

May 18 - May 22

Looking Up with Michelangelo

In this lesson, we have some fun looking upward at our artwork… and we get paint all over ourselves in the process.

May 11 - May 15

Found Object Color Wheels

In this lesson, we discuss how the rainbow of colors can be rearranged into a circle, known as the color wheel.

May 4 - May 8

Paper Cut Outs

In this lesson, we look at the man who made decoupage famous: Henri Matisse. We discuss his methods, and try our hands at Matisse’s style of drawing with scissors.

April 27 - May 1

In this lesson, we use the following paintings by Paul Klee as references, and create our own castle drawing using some of Klee’s shape ideas.

April 20 - April 24

In this lesson, my son John helps me focus on the habit of beginning with the end in mind. We plan out our drawing in our heads before we start, and we end up making a huge cupcake with tons of icing and sprinkles.

April 9 - April 17

Hot and Cold Colored Balloons

In this lesson, we’re learning about the difference between warm and cool colors. If you don’t have paint, feel free to use markers, crayons, colored pencils, or whatever coloring options you do have. And if you don’t have a Sharpie marker, you can draw with a pencil or pen.
